Governor Doug Ducey today announced significant improvements to Interstate 17 north of Phoenix. After the largest wildfire in state history burned more than 538,000 acres of eastern Arizona forest, the Arizona Department of Transportation and other groups launched a partnership in 2014 that included easing weight restrictions on certain state highways to help timber companies remove small trees and other vegetation that could fuel catastrophic fires.

The new system uses the latest technology to provide a customized experience with real-time updates from ADOT, the premier source of information on Arizona’s highway system.

Are you or someone in your family ready to start driving? In Arizona, drivers can start driving at age 15 1/2 years old. Before obtaining an unrestricted driver’s license, Arizona requires new drivers to first get a graduated instruction permit, followed by a graduated driver license.

After a few good snowfalls in the upper elevations of Arizona, winter is truly here. The big snowfall on the last day of the year in 2018 caught many people off guard. People were slipping around on streets that very quickly became icy and getting stuck in the snow on the side roads all over central and northern Arizona.
