A modernized, mobile-friendly Arizona 511 Travel Information System website and phone line are now available from the Arizona Department of Transportation. The new system uses the latest technology to provide a customized experience with real-time updates from ADOT, the premier source of information on Arizona’s highway system.
The Arizona Department of Transportation is advancing a $3.7 million project to construct a first-in-the-nation wrong-way driver thermal detection system along a 15-mile stretch of Interstate 17 in Phoenix. The system is designed to detect wrong-way vehicles and alert the other drivers and law enforcement of them on I-17.
Our ability to get on an Interstate Highway and drive across the country is something we take for granted, but it is one of the most important public work achievements in the history of the U.S. The National Interstate and Defense Highway Act was signed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower on June 26, 1956.
